Privacy Policy

Summary

Snap to AI does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Your screenshots never leave your Mac through us.

Data collection

Snap to AI collects no user data. Specifically:

  • No analytics or telemetry. The app does not phone home, track usage, or report crashes.
  • No screenshots are transmitted. Screenshots go from your screen to your clipboard to your AI chat app. Snap to AI never uploads, stores, or transmits your screenshots to any server.
  • No personal information. The app does not access, collect, or store names, emails, identifiers, or location data.

Network requests

Snap to AI makes network requests only for:

  • Update checks: Contacts snaptoai.app to check for new versions via Sparkle. Only the current app version is compared. No personal information is sent.
  • License validation: When you enter a license key, it is validated against the Keygen licensing API. Only the license key is transmitted, not any personal data.

No other network connections are made during normal use.

Permissions

Snap to AI requests two macOS permissions:

  • Screen Recording: Required for ScreenCaptureKit to capture your selected screen region. The captured image is placed on your clipboard and is not stored or transmitted by Snap to AI.
  • Accessibility: Required to simulate keyboard input (Cmd+V to paste) and mouse clicks in AI chat applications. This permission is used exclusively for local automation.

These permissions are used solely for the app's core functionality and never for data collection.

Local storage

Snap to AI stores the following on your Mac only (via macOS UserDefaults):

  • Your preferred AI app selection
  • Your custom hotkey configuration
  • Terminal mode and auto send preferences
  • Free trial status and start date
  • License key and validation status
  • Whether onboarding has been completed

When Terminal Mode is enabled, screenshots are saved as PNG files to ~/.snaptoai/captures/ on your Mac. Up to 50 files are retained; older files are automatically deleted. These files are never uploaded or transmitted.

No data is stored remotely or synced across devices.

Third-party services

Snap to AI does not integrate with any analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

When you send a screenshot to an AI chat app (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, etc.), your screenshot is handled by that app according to its own privacy policy. Snap to AI has no role in or visibility into what those apps do with your content.

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. License key management is handled by Keygen. These services process your email address and payment information when you make a purchase. Snap to AI does not store your payment details.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at snaptoai.app/privacy.
